Denny's Tuna Oka

Denny's Tuna Oka

Introduction

Our Portland Pier wharf manager, Denny Fiaalii, had told us stories of his oka dish, a dish found in Samoa where he's from, and often served with salmon or other super fresh fish that's available. He made us some oka one morning on Portland Pier with bluefin tuna caught just a few feet away, and it might just become our new favorite breakfast. Adjust the sriracha mayo for your desired level of heat!

Ingredients

  • 2 lb tuna medallions, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 cucumber, cut into quarter-moons
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 small white onion, diced
  • 1 cup scallions, chopped
  • 1 T sesame oil
  • 2 T sriracha mayo, or more to taste
  • Juice of 1 lime

Directions

  1. Combine tuna, cucumber, tomatoes, onions, sesame oil, sriracha, and mayo. Season to taste.
  2. Squeeze lime juice over the tuna and serve immediately!
